About
Poster Girl is an alternative band weaving together the warmth of indie pop with the grit of 90s alternative and 2000s rock revival. Critics have drawn comparisons to beabadoobee, Clairo, Paramore, and The Cranberries, their songs mix shimmering melodies with moody guitar lines and lyrics that feel like late-night confessions. With equal parts playfulness and vulnerability, Poster Girl makes music that sounds like nostalgia reimagined for right now.
Poster Girl is a 5-piece band made up of members: Lead singer-songwriter & rhythm guitarist Makayla Meister, Dominic Guzaldo (lead guitar), Garrett Jones (keys), David Green (bass).
Poster Girl has opened for National and Regional acts including: Macy Gray, The Rubens, Tom Sandoval, Aly & Aj, and others.

“Poster Girl drew inspiration from 90s Alternative music, but don’t let that fool you into thinking their music is dated or out of touch with today’s musical landscape. ‘Black Overalls’ is a vibrant track with emotive vocals and a sweet tone that is the perfect juxtaposition for the lyrical depth and meaning of this track.” — Travis Erwin

"Some songs don't need fanfare to make their mark—Poster Girl's "Black Overalls" is one of those enchanting statements that resonate sublimely. Released on July 11th, the track cements the American quartet's signature sound: textured guitars, gliding vocals, and an atmosphere that balances emotional weight with aesthetic precision.
In their second single of the year, the band blends noise and melody with rare sensitivity, transforming distortion into narrative and sonic attire. "Black Overalls" isn't just heard—it's worn, felt, and lingers, like a lo-fi portrait."

"Chicago collective Poster Girl dropped their dazzling new single “Black Overalls.”
This sweet and catchy indie pop / rock tune breathes with refreshing summer energy. The airy guitars and engaging rhythm section swirl in a charming dance. The honeyed vocals and lyrics about young love blossom with delightful tones. The song sounds pure, mellifluous, and very addictive."

"Chicago alt rockers Poster Girl recently returned with their new single “Black Overalls”, a song that aims to capture the butterflies of a perfect first date.
The track has a sweet and gentle nature to it will jangly guitars and a lovely vocal performance that has a indie folk and pop blend that is is delivered with an authentic sincerity and warmth. It reminds of artists such as Camera Obscura, as well as traces of classic 90s acts." - Will Oliver

" ‘I Wish’ is the latest single from Poster Girl, a Chicago based indie rock outfit. The most unfortunate thing about this track is that it’s only one of THREE that the band has released. Clearly this is a quality over quantity scenario, and this is only supposed to be about “I Wish,” but that was an important point to make; this band has only three songs and they knock all of ’em outta the park.
The guitar work is simple yet effective, meshing with light piano and vocals from singer Makayla Meister. Appropriately mournful while looking back on past regrets, it’s four minutes of bliss that you’ll be happy you spent time on."
